Courses We Offer

Welcome to the ESL classes at Cesar Chavez Elementary! IMC is proud to welcome you to our classes. It is better for foreign-born to speak the language of their adopted country.

ESL Basic Level

Monday - Wednesday

8:00 am - 10:00 am

This class is targeted to students who have never taken an English class before, and/or beginners who have had so little exposure to the English language. The focus of instruction also includes language learners who lack print literacy or who are acquiring basic literacy for the first time.

The class ensures vocabulary development to a sentence-level grammatical instruction. This course offers a variety of exercises for students to engage with the entire class and small groups. Throughout several activities, the students are motivated to be confident through metacognitive thinking.

 

These classes facilitate students with different learning strategies that fit their preferences and strengths. 

This class is targeted to students who have already taken an English class before, and for the students who have been  exposed to the English language  for a year or more. The focus of instruction also includes language learners who know how to read and write.

 

The class ensures vocabulary development to a sentence-level grammatical instruction including simple and compound sentences. This course offers a variety of exercises for students to engage with the entire class and small-groups. Throughout several activities the students are motivated to be confident through metacognitive thinking.

 

These classes facilitate students different learning strategies that fit their preferences and strengths. 

ESL Intermediate Level

Monday - Wednesday

10:00 am - 12:00 pm

ESL Advanced Level

Monday - Wednesday

10:00 am - 12:00 pm

This class is targeted to students who have completed Intermediate level, and want to improve English and basic computer techniques. The focus of instruction includes reading, listening, speaking and writing skills.

 

This course offers a variety of exercises for students to engage with the entire class and small-groups. Throughout several activities the students are encourage to share their ideas and experiences, to think more critically and confidence in the language for better communication.

We understand personal development courses as an essential part of self-awareness and as a discipline that enables individuals to discover the best within themselves. Therefore, we offer one or two classes per month as an integral part of our program for the benefit of our students.
